TCC Ruby Balls 2 mm (1000-pack)

Synthetic ruby (corundum, aluminium oxide / Al₂O₃) is the industry standard for heat-storing vaporization media — chemically inert, extremely heat-resistant, virtually unwearable.

Specification

• Material: synthetic ruby (corundum, Al₂O₃)
• Diameter: 2 mm
• Quantity: 1000 balls per pack
• Surface: polished for maximum heat transfer

Why 2 mm instead of 2.5 or 3 mm?

Smaller balls = more surface area per volume. That means:

• Higher heat transfer rate when air hits the material
• Tighter contact between balls in the bowl — less heat loss through gaps
• More even temperature distribution across the bowl surface

Most competing devices run 2.5 or 3 mm balls because they're easier to manufacture. TCC deliberately goes with 2 mm — tighter tolerances, requires a more specific bowl architecture, but delivers the best heating behaviour.

How many balls per bowl?

Depends on bowl size and mode:

• Wireless Quartz: about 500 balls in the quartz insert is plenty — keep the rest as spares
• Wired/Wireless Metal: full load of 1000 balls in the titanium setup

The 1000-pack is enough for one full fill plus reserve for losses.

Care

Ruby balls are self-cleaning under normal use: organic residues burn off on the next heating cycle. For heavy crusting, soak in isopropanol or boil in salt water.
